Our Pastor

The Reverend Charles Lehmann received a divine call to serve as pastor of Saint John's Lutheran Church on Palm Sunday in 2008 and has been pastor there since June 2008.  Pastor Lehmann is a 2007 graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary and previously served as Assistant Pastor for Youth and Education at Peace With Christ Lutheran Church in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Before entering the holy ministry, Pastor Lehmann was an English, Computer, and Theology instructor at Luther East High School in Lansing, Illinois.

Pastor Lehmann holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Lutheran Teaching Diploma from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska and a Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  Pastor Lehmann is also a published author.  His children's book, God Made It For You! was favorably reviewed by the New York Times Book Review.  He has also been published in Caleb Comment and Reflections and is a regular guest on the Lutheran radio program, Issues, Etc.

Pastor Lehmann enjoys writing, reading, hiking, and fly fishing.  He was born and raised in Northwest Montana where his parents still reside.

Pastor Lehmann is married to Jennifer Rose (Lee) Lehmann.  Charles and Jennifer were married on July 5th, 2008 at Peace With Christ Lutheran Church in Fort Collins, CO.  After a honeymoon on Mackinac Island, Jen joined Pastor Lehmann at the parsonage in mid-July.

Jen is a substitute teacher with the Garrett County Public Schools and an English Instructor at Garrett College.  Jen is from Napa, California.  Her parents now reside in Bellingham, Washington.  Before moving to Maryland, Jen was a 3rd grade teacher in Lutheran Schools in California and Arizona.  Jen holds a bachelor of arts degree from Concordia University, Irvine, California, and a Masters in Children's Literature from Hollins University.  Jen enjoys writing, reading, curriculum development, and foiling Pastor Lehmann's plans for world conquest.

Pastor and Jen are the parents of one cat, Hurley.  Hurley enjoys jumping, climbing, and speaking in several obscure kitty dialects.  Hurley can be seen in this picture studying the Greek text of the New Testament Gospels.  As an aspiring theologian, he can often be found helping Pastor Lehmann with sermon preparation and writing the church newsletter (and website).

Recently Hurley has begun training for the Olympic 50 meter running competition.  He is composing a petition to be presented to the International Olympic Committee protesting his ineligibility to try out for Team USA.
